What is the Stratos Group? That’s a tough question to answer concisely. The core Group includes Zaxxon (me), Windaria, Pezland, Nordramor, and Azraelot. All of us contribute to authoring our work, while I handle the bulk of our email, all of our editing work, and most of the business side of things. Pezland is our amazingly talented Webmaster. We’re all gamers at heart, though this is currently a side job for all of us (hopefully a full-time job soon). We originally started collaborating after I started making a 'Unit Guide' for Total Annihilation: Kingdoms in June of 1999. An overwhelming number of people told me it was very useful, and I began to think. (Oh no! He's thinking again!) I said to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if...," and that was that. I found Nordramor, Azraelot, and Windaria through their cool contributions on the TA:Kingdoms message board, and we eventually got together and combined our work to form our first guide, the Stratos Group’s Unofficial Guide to Total Annihilation: Kingdoms.
After a few weeks, (and several thousand downloads) the Guide started getting some major attention. We decided to stick together and do future projects, and chose the name Stratos. We've since become much more popular (Thank you everyone), and written dozens of online guides, as well as several books published retail. Readers of our work know that we pride ourselves on producing comprehensive, quality guides; we won't take on a project unless we're absolutely sure we'll do an excellent job.
In late 1999, we began to branch out, adding game reviews and developer interviews to our site. Today we’ve got some great guys (our ‘Assistant Groupies’) contributing to the site as well, doing everything from game reviews and interviews to co-authoring guides with us. Be sure to check out their individual personal pages. But we’re not done growing yet. We’re constantly working on expanding both our online and published content, and plan to grow quite a bit more before we’re done.
